For a book about a serial killer, I have to admit that it is pretty adorable. I had a lot of fun reading this book and was able to fly through the last half in one sitting. Beaty's plot keeps you guessing and second-guessing who's guilty up until the end.

Catrin, or Cat, hears a murder that no one else can one night and inserts herself into the investigation, led by Simon, who has his own secrets about why he understands the minds of a killer so well. Early this year, I had read Mindhunter by John Douglas and recognized the similarities of how Simon profiled the killer to the process that Douglas practiced. I was pleasantly surprised when after reading to see him listed in Beaty's Acknowledgements section. While grisly at times, Beaty still does a good job of keeping it more in the young adult genre.

To be honest, the ending was a little bittersweet and I was hoping for an all-around happy ending. It's definitely a stand-alone novel, and I can't find anything on her website saying this will be a series, but with how it ends, I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up writing more with Cat. If she does, I will be in for it.
