It looks gothic and entangling

I am so excited for this book already from the First Look. The book seems to lean into a few well established tropes (orphan, Holy City, serial killer/rampage) but I like the mix of them with the medieval theming. The cover is absolutely gorgeous and already tells me so much about the book. The girl wrapped in the vines symbolizes the tangled web of lies that the MC will undoubtedly face between the serial killer and the detective. The skyline in the background tells so much about the city (it's reinforcing the Holy City trope because spires are typically used on churches) but it's also telling us that she will have something to do with the buildings and help with the investigation, as also evident in the synopsis that she can spot flaws in the architecture, and that this will be a huge plot point of the book. The book is also playing with white daisies, which resembles purity and innocence. I'm curious as to whether that's a hint that the murder victims are innocent/pure or if the serial killer is murdering people to reestablish some form of purity himself as like a judge/jury/executioner. Given this, I'm also curious to see the book play with purity culture and how that will effect the story. I'm taking an early guess that the priest did it lol.
