Our main character's name is Ziva, a magical bladesmith who has severe social and generalized anxiety. Her sister, Temra, runs the shop part of the smith so that Ziva can stay locked away in her forge to make wonderful weapons that contain magical abilities.
As someone with anxiety, it was very easy to relate to Ziva and her struggles talking to people, and the intrusive thoughts that come along with it. The representation is spot on, and fantasy books definitely need more of it.
The cast of characters was unique and lovable but still had their character flaws. The world felt so real, too. The book revolves around a long journey, and that's not really for everyone, but if you're able to stick it out, it's definitely worth it.
