This book started out slow for me, but it picked up and became a really enjoyable fantasy read. The characters were very relatable and the banter between them was entertaining. I'm always a fan of the found family trope where a group that otherwise wouldn't be together must go on a quest and they bond in the process. I especially liked Ziva - her magical ability with iron was so cool and unique and her anxiety was extremely relatable for me. I wasn't a huge fan of the love story, but there was enough plot that I did enjoy that it wasn't as big deal. Very solid character development, great relationships and conversation among them and a fun fantasy adventure novel. This book will make it want to read the next in the series, which is a good place for it to end. I do recommend this for fantasy readers or for any one that likes games like dungeons and dragons!
