*4.5 stars rounded up for our lord and savior Kellyn

I've only read The Shadows Between Us in terms of Tricia Levenseller, but this has got to be up there for me too. I didn't have the highest of expectations, but
I'm beyond happy I got around to reading this book.
First, our lovely cast! I truly think Levenseller did an amazing job with character work in this book. You had a great sense of who every single one of them was, what they wanted, and how they saw each other. My favorite was Kellyn, but I adored all of the main cast (especially my bladesmith queen, Ziva).

Next, relationships! The main ones are the sisterhood between Temra and Ziva and the romance between Kellyn and Ziva. Both of those come with so much mutual understanding, and I love it. Temra especially just understands Ziva so well and tries to help her, although sometimes any character could forget what Ziva needed (which does always annoy me).Kellyn and Ziva don't rush into anything, even knowing how they feel about one another, which I loved.

I don't have much to say about plot and worldbuilding, only that I liked it! This is super straightforward and could be good for people new to fantasy as it's easily understandable and short.

I'd recommend this to the audience mentioned above, but also those who like bladesmithing, relationships that just /work/, and anxiety rep!
