“I prefer metal to people…”

Ziva and I got along from page one. This socially anxious blacksmith wants a quiet life. But her magical gift to imbue weapons with power results in a sword capable of cutting through anything, even from a distance—and stealing its victims secrets. Ziva learns that the warlord who commissioned it intends to use the sword to enslave all the world under her rule. Ziva flees with her sister, determined to find someone worthy to wield the sword—or a way to destroy it.

I loved the sincere affection between the sisters and their companion Petrik’s witty remarks. Mercenary Kellyn had me laughing out loud from his constant teasing of them all but he endeared me with his honor and gentle treatment of Ziva.

I easily kept turning pages, engrossed in the magical quest and Ziva’s internal journey to open up to more people. A lovely tale of sisterhood, friendship, romance, and how heroes can come from anywhere.
