Blade of Secrets was an entertaining, young adult, fantasy novel based on a character named Ziva who is a blacksmith who weaves magical spells into her weapons. Her sister, Temra is her best friend and best support. There is magic, there is a love story, there is sword fighting and there awkwardness.
The two things I loved about this book was how the main character, Ziva, has social anxiety and everything she does, and says is through her anxiety filter. How refreshing to read a character that I can relate to so much. I loved reading her character and how she saw her anxiety as a weakness when that was how she was able to hone her magic into her weapons was true focus, away from others. The other part I loved in the book was the ending, so clever.
I think I would have liked to have seen a bit more character development put into each other the characters in the book, i didn’t feel attached to any of them except for Ziva because of her social anxiety. But a fun and entertaining read!
