I definitely enjoyed my first look at this story, but I did not expect to speed through it as quickly as I did. Somehow this is my first Tricia Levenseller book and it was so good!!! Ziva is a really compelling protagonist. She has social anxiety and readers see the genuine way that this impacts her and makes certain things difficult. But she's also witty, loving, and loyal, and I love that with her and the other characters, it showcases the many different kinds of strength people can have. I love her arc throughout the story, and the plot has plenty of humor, romance, adventure, and magic. I absolutely loved it.
I also love the different relationship elements of this story. There's romance of course, and I like the two main love pairings in this story. And I love how we see the interaction of first love and social anxiety with Ziva. There's also family relationships, specifically the sister relationship between Ziva and Temra, which is so strong and such a lovely bond to read about. I love books about sister relationships, and these girls are super close but can still argue, and they have to learn how to keep their love strong in spite of new differences. There's so much good I can say about this book, but overall I definitely recommend it and cannot wait for the sequel. Cause man, that ending. I'll have to pick up another of Tricia's books to tide me over in the meantime.
