The writing style really set the scene well, right from the start in the forge. I'm interested in how the magic is put into the weapons in various ways and can't wait to learn more. Ziva's battle with anxiety and her relationship with her sister drew me in. The arrival of Petrik added a sense of mystery and danger even though he was not acting suspicious in any way. The world-building was dropped in nicely after a little time to get to know the sisters. I look forward to seeing how Ziva is pulled out of her safe space and into this turbulant divided kingdom.
