I am so sad I didn't get this portion of the book read a week ago when the giveaway was still open. I am so surprised by how well it is written. I am originally from North Carolina and it felt just like a summer in the South. The calm and yet the energy of society are exactly what I miss about the south (not much else though of the south entices me besides the feels of a lazy southern summer, not a heat person). The atmosphere alone makes this book a must read but the plot is also fabulous. The voice is engaging and there is a real sense of place without trying to write in the southern tone. I very much dislike when people who didn't grow up in a region try to write in the area's specific tone. It comes off very fake but this doesn't have that issue. The other thing I love is the cover. It is full of curiosity and mystery. I am intrigued by the whole package and want more.
