I was absolutely hooked from page one! Having grown up in the Appalachian Mountains, nothing got me more excited than a spooky book set in the hollows and hills. The legends of the Moth-Winged Man, the mystery, and the magic were beautifully crafted. Kate Pearsall has a lyrical way of writing so much emotional depth that I laughed and cried with the characters and couldn't put the book down.
The Practical Magic vibes mixed with a murder mystery was a great combination and wove together an incredible world of characters. The James sisters are all so different and incredibly well written that I would be totally willing to read a book for each one. The worldbuilding is beautifully strong, the plot is fast paced and unpredictable, and the magic was so fascinating that I want to visit Caball Hollow just to eat one of Linden's amazing deserts.
