The opening chapters of Bittersweet in the Hollow do a remarkable job of cultivating a spooky small-town vibe, steeped in superstition. The many references to family secrets promise there is much to be revealed in the rest of the book, and the close-knit nature of the community feels like it's closing in on Linden.
