This book was truly a gem to read and a break from the true crime novels I typically read. However, I love the occasional historical novel, especially when it comes to World War II. A young girl is moved from England to Maine, where a sort of foster family takes her in until it's safe to go home. We all see the sad departure as she returns home to her family as a young woman. However, she can't forget her American family and finds herself missing them, torn between where she is and where she wants to be. There are plenty of tears sad times throughout this book, but it makes the good times all the more beautiful. If you like a good drama filled with love, drama, sadness, and uncertainty, this is the book for you. I found all these characters highly likeable and relatable. I gladly read this book within a matter of days. What a great read! I highly recommend giving this book a go.
