I really wanted to like this book. I liked the premise of it and I loved how it was told by using multiple different point of views. Unfortunately, the book fell a little flat for me. I think having so many character point of views made some of the story a little hard to follow. The book was interesting but it also felt slow. I would still recommend it to someone who loves historical fiction or coming of age stories. The book was very coming of age. I did really like the character of Beatrix and seeing how she grew up. It is inspiring to see how she went all the way to another country during such a hard time. I also loved Mrs. G. It was heartwarming to see how the mother accepted Beatrix into her family. All in all, I wouldn’t read the book again but I would recommend it to someone who likes similar titles and genres.
