I can not imagine how eleven year old Beatrix felt when she was sent from her home in England to the United States, to protect her from the raging WWII. What she soon realizes though, is that she is much more comfortable in her new life with William, Gerald and the rest of the Gregory's. Watching Bea grow into a strong, confident young lady is heart-warming and sad, knowing that at the end of the war, she must return home. Her story is only half over when she returns to England. Trying to fit back in, finding a place for herself in post-war England, and adjusting to life without the her "other" family, Bea faces everything head on. I don't want to give away to many of the twists and turns, but there are so many heartbreaks and joyful times in this book, you never know when the story will really end. This is a love story of such magnitude, with tenderness, and hurt, it will remain in your memory for a long time.
