I absolutely loved this story. It was nice to hear the narrative from different viewpoints and from different countries. I'm a huge fan of historical fiction and this one did not disappoint. I would have liked a little more of a glimpse into the future in the epiloge, but I did enjoy the little bit that we got.
I enjoyed learning that during WWII children were sent overseas to live in America. It was neat to see that perspective from the points of view of the child being sent, of the parents sending her and of the family she stayed with. I could empathize with all of them. How hard it must of been for Beatrix to be sent from her home and country and to be starting a new life with strangers and then all the mixed feelings when it was time to return home after so long. I really felt for her and the Gregory family. How difficult it must have been to to feel torn between two families and two lives that you loved.
