The book, Beyond That, the Sea, goes back in time and tells the story of two different families during World War II. One family is in Europe and the other is on the east coast of the United States. During the war, Beatriz travels to America to be with a family because her parents think it will be safer for her.
I really like how each character gets their own sections for the novel. So, we get to see everyone's point of view and not just one person narrating the whole novel. I love historical books and this was truly a heartwarming and at times a sad story. It is interesting how we get to see how World War II is affecting both countries in this novel, we get to see how bad it is in Europe and how when Beatriz gets to live with an American family, that it is mostly normal there and totally different than where she had lived in Europe. She gets to experience many new things that she would have never experienced if she had not gone to America. I totally recommend this book to anyone who wants to find something new to read or to people who already know that they like historical and heartwarming books.
