This is a story of a young girl who is sent to America by her parents to escape the war. She is to live with a family who has 2 sons. They have a house on a private island where they spend there summers. She grows up and forms a great bond with them and they all consider each other family. She goes to school and finds friends and has a great time while also thinking of her parents she leaves behind.
It takes you through the 5 plus years Bea lives with the Gregory's and how close she gets with the family and through the the years sense leaving America and going back home to London.
Bea and the rest of her American family and her real family get older and stay in touch and have such an amazing bond.
This was an emotional book, that had me crying at times. By the end of the story I felt like I knew all of these people and grew up and old with them.
I have never read a book twice. This will be my first. I absolutely loved this story.
