Beautiful, Descriptive Writing Style

I don’t read a lot of historical fiction, as it is not my favorite genre, but I thought I’d give this one a try. Laura Spence-Ash has such a beautiful, descriptive writing style as she tells this this story of Beatrix getting sent to live with the Gregorys in America during World War II. This book is told in three parts and takes place over many years. I enjoyed how the book followed many different characters and told us their perspectives, as it helped tell the story. I really liked all the different characters and how they grew and developed throughout the book. Although this isn’t something I would typically pick up and read, I did find myself invested in the book and the characters and story within it. Overall, this was a great character-driven book that I can see many people enjoying, regardless of whether or not this is a genre that they read.
