Well-written historical fiction
Beyond That, The Sea by Laura Spence-Ash largely takes place between 1940-1945, 1951, and 1960-1965. It follows Beatrix, who in 1940 is an eleven-year-old girl sent away to the U.S. by her loving parents. They live in London and were concerned by the bombs "coming closer and closer."
Historical fiction isn't a go-to genre for me, but I plan to give this one a chance given the strength of the writing and some early positive reviews.
