This sounds like a heartbreaking tragedy for both families. I can't imagine being separated from my child for years on end, especially during the difficult years of adolescence and during the horrors of war. While I would like to think I too would make that difficult choice for the welfare of my child, I don't know if I would even be able to imagine it, much less do it. This story sounds so compelling and enthralling, I can't wait to read it.
