I have always loved wwii novels. I’m not sure why; I think it’s partly the need to try to make sense of the horrors of that war. As a parent, I think the hardest thing to do would be to send my children by themselves across an ocean. Yet, many parents did this in order to try and save their children from danger. I’m sure many family situations did not turn out well. The story of Beatrix seems like one of the better ones. I like that the story is told from different points of view, not only Beatrix but her parents and new family as well. I’m eager to finish her story!
