There are many historical fiction novels set in WW2, this one seems a bit different in that it's told from multiple perspectives centering on one child, Beatrix, who is evacuated from England to the US to escape the bombings. Even in this short first impression, it's clear that this is a heartbreaking decision for her parents even though it's with Beatrix's safety and well-being in mind. It'll be interesting to see how the story develops as she becomes part of the Gregory family in the US and what it'll be like for her when she can finally return to her parents at the war's end.
