Laura Spence-Ash's writing is lovely and wistful as it introduces the situation that sends eleven-year old Beatrix to America. I enjoyed the short chapters from the perspectives of different characters, which this excerpt such a quick read. I'm curious to see what happens to Beatrix and how she eventually returns to England. The cover seems to match the book very well, capturing the mood exactly.
