Interesting but disjointed

At first, I rolled my eyes when I saw it was yet another WW2 historical fiction story. It seems like 9 out of 10 historical fiction novels are set during WW2, as if there aren't any other interesting historical times. But after reading the synopsis, this one does have a slightly different spin—a British child sent to America to escape the war. So okay, that's at least something.

I started the excerpt and I felt it was disjointed. The chapters are short, just starting with a name, and then will jump to a different POV. I found that it disrupted the narrative and didn't always provide enough context to get into the story. Maybe the story comes together, but that definitely made me hesitate. This would be one I might check out from the library, but I doubt I'd buy it.

The cover is interesting but I'm not sure it adequately conveys a "sweeping, tenderhearted love story."
