I was immediately taken by this book! The chapters are short, which gives the story a sense of immediacy and makes for a quick reading experience. The writing is lyrical and really fits the poignant tone. We hear from multiple perspectives, and it seems like a fascinating period of history to see from the eyes of ordinary people on both sides of the Atlantic. I loved reading the perspective of the girl, I was intrigued by the prologue (which is set when she is older) and am curious to read more of her story.
