My first impression of the book is one of sadness. Sadness about reminiscing of the family that took her in during the war. I was list in the writing and felt like I was there. The description of the American family tells me that this where she truly felt wanted and loved, not back in London. I'd like to continue on with this book to find out about those twenty plus years in this life.
