The writing in this is just lovely, despite the deep feeling of pain radiating from some of the characters. As a parent, the idea of having to send your child an ocean away to preserve their safety sounds so painful, and it's both hard and fascinating to read the perspectives of the child, the parents, and the people waiting on the other side.
