This is an introspective view into the life of Henry Winkler. Henry tells of his family's coming to America, of his rigidly strict Jewish parents and their need to keep up beyond their means. He tells of being severely dyslexic in a time when no-one recognized the problems he had. He tells of the ways he learned to cope and how he asked to receive scripts early so he would have time to figure out and learn his lines. The Fonz character was created from a sudden burst of imagination in an audition he thought he had no hope of getting. The book is a very personal telling where he bares his hardships and his joys in all aspects of his life. It was at times a painful read as the reader sympathizes with his struggles. It is a fun read in the stories he tells of the good times and the wonderful people he knows. He admits to not being cooked yet - not a full grown-up and seeing a shrink or two. It would be a very good book for someone who is dyslexic and struggling to listen to on Audiobook.
I enjoyed reading it.
