If you already liked Henry Winkler as "the Fonz" in Happy Days, you will adore him even more after reading this book. "Being Henry . . ." provides a look into his life - from his early childhood and Jewish upbringing, his audition for Happy Days and the successful years beyond, his search for direction after the sitcom's end, and much, much more. I especially enjoyed reading about the "Fonz" reading/tryout (not the way I would have envisioned it playing out), how he managed his struggles as an actor and director with dyslexia, and the lack of confidence he truly possessed - playing "the Fonz" - such a self-assured icon.

In addition to his professional life, unique details about his personal side were also revealed . The beginning of his relationship with his wife, Stacey, whom he has been with for forty-seven years; his roles as a husband, father, grandfather - and son. Later in life - as he's aged, he discusses finally gaining the confidence he so desired, and now knowing the importance of people, embracing his relationships with friends and family to the fullest.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but it absolutely exceeded my expectations. It genuinely delves into the man behind the character of "the Fonz," for whom he is so well known. I realize and appreciate his depth as a person even further after reading this biography.
