A women's intuition -- her mother told her -- was something she should listen to when it speaks to her. The narrator ignores that important piece of advice and something tells me that she is going to look back on this scene as the book goes on and wish that she had listened to what her mother had told her. That's the end of the first look, but even the beginning pulls you in. Seeing the narrator in her startched clothing wanting to be a good girl but knowing that things might go the other way. I really enjoyed moxie so I've been looking forward to more from this author. I can't think of any other modern books that are the retelling of S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders but from a female perspective. This sounds like it will be a young adult version of Thelma and Louise. Really looking forward to seeing where this girl's life goes and the pathes that are presented to her.
