Bad Girls Never Say Die is the story of Evie Barnes. She is a "bad girl" as are her friends. They wear too much makeup, act too obnoxious, date the wrong boys, etc. A traumatic experience leads to her being saved by a River Oaks good girl. From here we get to see what it is like on the other side of the tracks. This is being dubbed as a gender-swapped version of The Outsiders, which I guess...sure why not. It takes place in the same time period which brings with it the same old stereotypes. Greasers vs. Rich kids. The story seems a bit forced at times as it plays out the same old tropes. But then again, that is kind of how it was back then. This is more girl power and feminism which is great. I think that kids should read both this one and The Outsiders for an overall picture of what it was like from each point of view. I really loved the story, I was a huge fan of The Outsiders as well.
