While I wouldn’t necessarily consider “Bad Girls Never Say Die” a retelling of “The Outsiders,” I thought it was a great story on its own. I thought Evie was a very compelling character and I liked seeing into the mind of a “bad girl.” She was a real friend and I enjoyed watching her development as a character. I felt like the author was able to explore many different topics, including family ties, friendship, loyalty, and fitting in. My favorite was how she showed that a person doing something that definitely could be seen as bad doesn’t always make them a bad person. Life is full of nuances and mistakes and this book shows that very well. It also talks about several different social issues happening in this time period, like young women and girls being sent away and married off. Overall, I rate this book 5/5 stars and I enjoyed reading it.
