Bad Girls Never Say Die is being touted as the female Outsiders and I can see why. Just from the two short chapters I read (and by looking at the cover of the book) I definitely get those vibes. The story revolves around a group of bad girls who live in Houston. Their ringleader just got home from a girls reform school and they are ready to get back to their old habits. The narrator, Evie, is younger than the other girls but seems like she fits in with them. I’m curious to read more about the group dynamics as well as the forthcoming relationship between Evie and Diane, which was only slightly teased. I’m also interested in reading this book because it’s set in the 60s and I think it will be fun to time travel to a different era. So far the author has painted a well defined picture of life in this time and place and I’m eager to delve deeper. Books about female relationships are always interesting and complex so I’m looking forward to learning about how the girls are with each other as well as other people in their school. I think this will be a fun and thought provoking read.
