I've never finished the original that this book is based off of--The Outsiders--though it was definitely part of the curriculum. I just ... got so bored by it and never returned to finish. I'd totally give this a go though and see whether I'd be more intrigued by this female cast than I was by the original (and this might also entice me to try the original once again)!
