From the cover alone, I'm intrigued. The sunglassed face reminds me of the movie poster for Almost Famous. It feels classy and mysterious. Then you open the book to meet Evie and her girl-gang. From the get-go, you know that Evie is a "bad girl", at least by association. The more you hear from her though, you can't help but wonder if maybe she isn't really a "bad girl" and she just hangs with the wrong crowd. At 15 years old, you get the impression that Evie is incredibly smart and intuitive and still trying to find her way in the world. The First Look leaves you with a cliff-hanger: Evie's mature intuition is piqued and you just know something ominous is about to happen! I can't wait to read the whole thing!
