Everything Is Bigger, Badder, and Better in Texas
As a fan of Moxie, seeing that Jennifer Mathieu's next novel was set in Houston in the 1960s totally caught my attention in an instant!! I grew up in Houston so I love reading books set in different areas and eras about my hometown.
What I really liked was Evie's voice. You can tell she's someone you are gonna root for and will get both sides of story from which makes this excerpt enticing. I can attest that River Oaks is still the richy area of Houston so I enjoyed the nods to that. I enjoyed that in 17 pages you got such rich descriptions and introductions to most of the characters that I feel I know them already. I can't wait to see where this all goes!!
