This was such a great example of investigative journalism and I was horrified by the level of corruption that almost every party involved had. I will say it was terribly hard for me to sympathize with a rich kid who just let their opportunities go to waste but in the end I felt more sympathy for her than I did anyone else. It’s heartbreaking to see drugs ruin futures for young women and men like her but actual crime do nothing to ruin the future of a horrible man and the bureaucratic level that defended him. I’m extremely happy to have received an arc of this novel and I’m very sorry for such a late review as I had a surgery and only recently finished the novel. I feel this was a GREAT nonfiction read that is well deserving of a best seller as its investigative journalism is unmatched in almost any nonfiction I have ever read. I’d recommend this to anyone who love politics, investigative journalism, and uncovering corruption.
