Very Michelle McNamara-eque!
Paul Pringle details his take down of two of the most influential administrators of the University of California, who become embroiled in a scandal involving sex and drugs. Pringle writes meticulously, providing enough detail to allow the reader to become attached to the story, but not over-doing it to the point of tedium.
I was reminded of Michelle McNamara's work "I'll Be Gone in the Dark," while ready this First Impression. Although a less morbid subject matter, Pringle offers a similarly incisive view of southern California history contrasted with current geopolitical and cultural phenomena. Overall a juicy and exciting read!
