I wasn't aware this was a YA novel when I won it from BookishFirst (thanks for the free book!), but it makes things make a lot more sense knowing that now. Not a bad story, but it won't be going on my shelf of "I need to read this again" either. Some suspense, that falls a little short because some of it just seems a bit outlandish, (this much jealousy over a girl they just met?), but the story is rampant with a lot of long simmering bitterness and anger over one of the group, a golden boy that gets all the girls. His plan to make up for a serious mistake with one of his friends sets off a series of bad decisions that results in (accidental?) ax wounds, death, lost digits from frostbite, and a somewhat confusing but still (happy?) ending. It was worth a read, but more character development would have moved it from meh, I'm glad I read it, to wow!, what jealousy and anger can do to a group of friends!
