Auntie Poldi is a plodding, verbose, work of utter distraction. I was eagerly awaiting to read this fascinating book. I was disappointed. It was hard to know who the narrator was, where the plot was going, and if I really was invested in any of the characters. I read up to 50 pages and then decided that life was WAY too short to finish the book.
The characters were just not developed, not interesting, and if there had been a prize for how many drinks a person can swallow down their gullet, Aunt Poldi would win top prize.
Unfortunately the writing and the descriptions bogged the story down and did not allow the reader to fully understand what was happening. I was 50 pages in and then Poldi found the dead boy. At this point I did not care and had no idea who the dead boy was.
I gave up!
