This was a quirky little murder mystery book featuring Auntie Poldi, an eccentric 60 year old Bavarian lady, recently relocated to Sicily with the intention of drinking her way through retirement until her death. Along the way, she gets tangled up in solving the murder of Valentino, a local bit of eye candy, all while meeting and making friends with an eclectic cast of characters. Her nephew, an aspiring writer, commutes between his Bavarian home and Poldie’s home, so he’s in the perfect spot to chronicle her adventures.
This book was a quick, entertaining read, and the first in a series. I will keep the other two in reserve for when I need a light read. I found the book enjoyable, but not rave worthy.
