When I first read preview of Auntie Poldi, I knew I was in for a different type read - different for me anyway. I was curious to know more about her and the mystery of her story. Auntie Poldi is definitely a character. She's 60, retired and supposedly moved to die by the sea. Well, she's not dying. No, she's flamboyant, speaks her mind and does not give up.
The mystery involves a young man who did odd jobs for her. He goes missing and she cannot and will not leave it alone. She talks with police and isn't happy so off she goes to investigate. Lots of twists and turns and some not in her best interest. I found myself rooting for her and wanting things to work out. Forgot to add - she also has a handsome police officer in her sites.
All of this is set in Sicily, which is described in all its beauty. A lovely setting, a very fun character and a mystery. All made for a great read. I would definitely like to read more of her adventures. Hopefully more are written and will be translated to English.
