I really enjoyed the excerpt of Auntie Poldi and the Sicilian Lions. Having Sicilian blood in me myself I’m naturally drawn to any story about Sicily. I have only read one of the Neopolatian novels so far and really liked it. This book is more of a commercial fiction comparison to Ferrente’s books; it feels like a great summer to an end of summer romp with our main character’s Auntie Poldi, a retired 60 year old aunt who wants to “retire”/relocate to a new house by the sea and who seems to have absorbed care of her nephew.
The writing is witty and funny and you find yourself immersed into the family nuances and quirkiness quickly.
I know my family will enjoy reading this book, especially with a cup of tea and biscotti :)
