The chapter starts with a bit of a take on A Room with A View, which is fairly unique. You don’t see that very often. Poldi is a quirky character that, although seems to have given up on life, is still very vibrant and doesn’t really seem ready to go quietly into death. She’s in a bit of a funk, and having a pity party - but what better place to do that than in a picturesque villa in Italy.
This has all the earmarks of a cozy mystery with a touch of flamboyance and gusto. Poldi is quite a different character, and you can’t help but find yourself smiling at how she is first described. Her background seems as interesting and unique as Poldi herself - and although not in the prime of her life, she’s young at heart.
