An amateur sleuth who can't let her mystery (or cocktail) go
A frothy (and intermittently boozy!) delight, but a little light on the actual mystery. Auntie Poldi was an absolute pleasure to follow on her rambles trying to solve the murder case of who killed her beloved handy-man. However the narrator was a little under-used (in a 'why bother?' kind of way) and the mystery itself was fairly forgettable.
A side-plot that I'm sure will continue was the burgeoning romance between Poldi and a local detective who couldn't resist her mature wiles!
I will keep reading this series, and this first installment made a very relaxing beach read, but the mysteries need to get a little more mysterious for me to be all-in.
