I was disappointed by this book, which I got as a Goodreads.com giveaway. Perhaps because it was set in Italy, I was expecting to be carried away to the place as I have been by other authors. I have been to Sicily, so I was particularly excited.
I found myself comparing this book to other mystery authors and Italian detectives and found it fell short. I was thrilled that a sixty year old woman was the lead character. EvenThere was not a single character that I felt an attachment towards.
I did not find the plot or pacing engaging. The writing itself was good prose. No spoiler alert, since I am not going to comment on the ending. Honestly, I had to struggle to finish the book to compose this review.
