Perhaps it's trying too hard

While I like mysteries, cozy mysteries aren't usually my thing. This one specifically failed to capture me right away. The writing style is off-putting, with run-on sentences that take up entire paragraphs and a narrative voice that strikes as unauthentic and forced. The concept is interesting, that of an elderly woman solving crimes, but I was mostly distracted by the writing and otherwise bored by the set up. Not for me.
