What would you do if you lived on a town where you were guaranteed one wish to be granted? That's the story for Eldon. On a person's 18th birthday each resident gets to go into the wish cave. Our story sets out a week before Eldon's wish and we get to follow his struggles with what he wants to wish for or if he even wants to take his wish. It seems like everyone he knows has had their life ruined by wishing but is that really the case or just what he wants to see.
I did something out of the ordinary and read some of the reviews for this book. Luckily they didn't change how I felt about the book. The basis of the story is really interesting but to see the stress and pressure put on this kids it's a wonder nobody cracked before now. I enjoyed the story despite the fact that the main character, Eldon, was a complete self centered jerk. Half the story was him complaining about how others wishes has effect him and he was no longer the king of the school, when in actuality he was wrong about those wishes and people were just tired of his attitude. If you can look past his personality the story was pretty interesting and held my attention through the end. I also really enjoyed in between chapters we got a chance to hear the stories of others wishes.
