After looking at the book I "wish" to be able to read the whole book. I am very interested to find out what Eldon uses for his wish, and to find out if his wish does come to fruition or not. I would also like to discover why Madison is the only town to have wishes, how they started and what happens when outsiders try and discover more.

Young Eldon lives in a very small remote town in the desert of Nevada. He has a job as a service station attendant and besides pumping gas his job is to get visitors to leave quickly without snooping around. His birthday and wish day are coming up soon and he can't decide if he should wish for money for the family or something more personal.

Eldon is the main character in the book and the story is told from his point of view. With the first read we know he has a sister but don't know anything about her or why his family came to live in Madison in the first place. The writer teases you with enough small details to encourage you to read the whole novel.
